Fire Station #29 is a new anchor for the redeveloping community in San Ysidro. Situated in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood, the design of this building echoes a distinct similarity between its own elements of design & that of its neighboring Mexican city Tijuana. Building materials such as exposed masonry, stucco & exterior wall paneling are organized in a way to break down the scale of the roughly 10,000SF building. The front yard and meandering sidewalk were designed to promote the pedestrian experience along the new commercial redevelopment, intended for all the buildings which abut to San Ysidro Blvd. This project is designed to be LEED Certified Gold Level.
